Brainstorming and giving tips to a friend on travelling in Morocco make me miss this magnificent and beautiful country, and my friends and family there more this evening. Naturally I turn to the many photos on my phone taken in Morocco. This one was taken in Casablanca in May 2011. Moorish arch, kitty cat, street photography, candid shot, these are a few of my fa-vour-ite things. Before capturing this moment, I was sitting in the shade by one of the many columns in the ‘courtyard’ in front of the Hassan II Mosque, resting, cooling off after walking for 50 minutes in 37 degree Celsius heat, with a 65L backpack on me back, from the Port de Casablanca train station. There, at this serene and calming spot, I shared my giant bag of puffed quinoa with a father and daughter from another Moroccan City. We chatted in English and French (the daughter spoke some English and wanted to practice and the father only spoke Darija - Moroccan Arabic - and some French) for a while as they took a breather in the killer heat as well. They were fascinated by this little Asian lady from the western world, travelling by herself, with no working phone, cell data or GPS, carrying such a huge bag with no wheel. They also suggested for me to visit Agadir if I could. Unfortunately I did not make it there this time but I will definitely go back to Morocco again, again and again. Damn, I miss travelling and striking up conversations with random (non-creepy) people.
